It was something like 20% vs 22%.

Seemed like good enough documentation for me.JenMoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06363983144467109172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-19102570762664286702018-09-03T04:40:27.736-07:002018-09-03T04:40:27.736-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.JenMoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06363983144467109172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-4548479329289061992015-08-12T18:25:46.982-07:002015-08-12T18:25:46.982-07:00Outstanding post. I think you did everyone a service by pointing out the fitness required to deal with this event. When I read the statement, "The fight lasted about three minutes from start to finish", I was stunned. You are right, three minutes is an eternity in a fight like that. Any fully engaged hand to hand combat is incredibly taxing to the body and fitness is a key to lasting for the duration. With so much emphasis on defensive weapons, and being able to quickly stop a fight having the understanding that an encounter like this happens more often than not, and that fitness and mindset are what will make a difference is paramount.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08856789606867627357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-7080831477047157332013-08-11T22:58:58.352-07:002013-08-11T22:58:58.352-07:00And had she been a CCW carrier armed with a concea...And had she been a CCW carrier armed with a concealed handgun, it would have been the murdering rapist tragically(not) DOA or dying in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Good she survived and a good lesson for supporters of MAIG and PAGV, trying to take everyone's rights away.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16816898884334908089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-14331364980315575692013-08-11T19:47:16.302-07:002013-08-11T19:47:16.302-07:00I agree 100%. I recommend Cooper's book Principles of Personal Defense but, for once, Wikipedia has it correct. What has happened is that some trainers felt there was a need to differentiate between a general threat and a specific threat. General threats still fall under yellow, the moment you are targeted, you go into orange, denoting a specific threat and your readiness to engage in a fight. Red means that threat has turned into an immediate danger of death or grievous bodily harm.Reverend Jimmie Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15343342468781750782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-79980785400205654752013-08-08T23:04:21.577-07:002013-08-08T23:04:21.577-07:00The proper response to an attack is Immediate Viol...The proper response to an attack is Immediate Violence of Action!!! I think that it is a worthwhile article, but too long to digest effectively. Once upon a time, I was asked to speak to a group of female college students about self-defense with a buddy who was more interested in selling pepper-spray than actually helping these women sort through a rapist's mindset. I put together the course based on a psychological profiling course that I learned from an FBI profiler. There are times when fighting is the only reasonable course of action and there are times when not fighting will help you survive an encounter. Obviously, Angela's response was the correct one. She is alive today. May I add a few observations? First, everyone should train themselves to be aware of their surroundings at all times. If you are going to be out at night, ask someone at the store or business to accompany you. Do not interact with someone that approaches you and asks mundane questions. If approached and startled, react as if there is a weapon in your bag and order the person to go away. Second, whatever you have available, be prepared to use it. Third, always know where you are and how to direct authorities to come to your location by address, street intersection, store name, etc. Fourth, if you have keys that set off your car alarm, use them right now. Attract as much attention to yourself as possible. Most rapists will flee at unwanted attention. Fifth, know at least basic first aid so that you can stop bleeding and treat yourself or someone else. Keep a trauma first aid kit in your car/trunk and know how to use it. And lastly.... Make up your mind today, right now, whether you are going to be a victim or a survivor! DO NOT allow someone to take you to an isolated place. That never ends well. Better to die fighting than to never be found in a shallow grave. Sorry, but that's the reality. Most everyone that has a survivor's mindset will never to attacked. That is the statistic that should keep you motivated!.RodGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04357051628635895165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-58285339257761827702013-08-07T12:32:47.532-07:002013-08-07T12:32:47.532-07:00Great article. I had gotten my ccw and figured that was enough until I read a story in a random blog about a guy who stepped out of his car and had a knife put to his throat, he got out of the hold and pulled his gun, that story motivated me to immediately get basic self-defense. I know with my size that more than likely I will eventually be over powered but I will go down with a fight and at least having some skills to use for leverage will be a great help and might even give me the element of surprise, like Angela's attacker said, "You are lucky you were a fighter."

I know before I had my conceal carry, I never carried a weapon but I always made sure when I left a place or club (back in my younger days) I always had my car keys between my fingers ready to punch and then smack with my purse, which don't laugh, I don't carry a cloth purse, I have always carried metal boxes, plastic boxes, etc. for purses so they are going to hurt. I think I even once thwarted an attack because of my purse. These guys were eyeballing me walking to my car at night, I had that gut feeling but the street was lined with concrete median dividers, they were making their way right towards me and when I came from behind the median and they saw that huge metal box in my hand, they turned back around, I kept my eyes on them until I got to my car.

Thank you again for this post and great reminder to all about a lot of points that a lot of us probably don't consider.
Is She Dangeroushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17690875896381850565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-74672060913612299982013-08-06T10:12:33.388-07:002013-08-06T10:12:33.388-07:00my pistol has trumped the knife in every knife fig...my pistol has trumped the knife in every knife fight I have attended... and there have been a few.

defensive hand injuries are all I have sustained... the aggressor.. not so much.

Capable handgun and a good neck knife, train with both, they will put the goblin on the wrong side of the dirt 99.999% of the time.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01209896292316619915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6803667991676302656.post-31694741823113289492013-08-06T08:35:33.379-07:002013-08-06T08:35:33.379-07:00Thank you for this post.
